Rewiring Together for Men An Invitation to Develop a New, Conscious, Healthy, Happy Future for Men 50 and Older
Remember when it seemed like the pathway of life before us was endless? That there seemed to be as much time as you ever needed to do anything you’d ever want to do, assuming you could find the resources to make it work? When “I’ll get to it someday…” actually felt like we would?
Remember how we worked so hard to “accomplish” our goals: our work, our relationships, our family, financial resources, physical health, and well-being?
And now here we find ourselves. Some are dealing with major life transitions. Many of us turn around and see ourselves looking at the finite nature of life as if through the rearview mirror. Others see themselves in transition: empty nesters; looking at retirement; struggling to be excited and passionate about what is next, other than easing into old age. Not necessarily with fear or remorse, but with a clear sense of our mortality, and the possibility of limitations of time, resources, and the mind and body looming over us. Some have been lucky enough to achieve or exceed their goals and others have abandoned them. Some wonder if they are still achievable.
What if we don't have to let aging limit or define us? What if we can create the future for ourselves? What if this is the greatest moment of possibility we have ever experienced?
Rewiring is a 4-month experience born from the desire to have the latter parts of our lives be just as fulfilling, just as enriching, and just as fun as the best times we have had…or more so!
This experience is designed to combine the best aspects of personal development, learning, coaching and support. Rewiring is not a “curriculum,” although we will be learning evidence-based findings about aging well. It is more than just information sharing; it is designed to be a transformational experience supporting each of us (including the facilitators!) In shedding the baggage we have from the past; reinventing the narratives we have developed about aging; and designing a new future filled with acceptance and possibility.
We will explore topics such as: • Physical health and well-being • Emotional health and well-being • Self-concept, image, and acceptance • Sexuality • Spiritual Health • Career or other pursuits • Relationships, both romantic and platonic • Gratitude, optimism, and compassion • Living in flow
All of this will be done within a support network of facilitated growth, mutual encouragement, accountability, and companionship, both during each sessionand throughout the interim periods.
The group is limited to 12-15 members to ensure everyone has a chance to explore and build their future selves with the support of a group that has authentic and deep connections.
Rewiring is designed as a 4-month experience so we can go beyond the limited experience of a weekend and consciously develop new behaviors, new patterns and new pathways of the mind that build sustainable change. While there will be three in-person “events,” one at the beginning, one in the middle, and one at the end, we will also have regular virtual sessions every other Tuesday of each month to keep our dialogue moving forward.
